Rosspoint edges JACES in double-overtime thriller

A showdown between two of the county’s top middle school basketball teams lived up to expectations as Rosspoint survived two overtimes to edge visiting James A. Cawood 56-54 on Tuesday to avenge a loss from December.
Cole Cornett and Gunnar Johnson scored 20 points each to lead the Wildcats. Brayden Morris added 11 points.
Kaden Jones exploded for 32 points to lead JACES. Landon Brock added 12 points.
Hudson Faulkner and Trey Creech each scored 14 points and Blake Johnson added 12 as Rosspoint won 46-37 in fifth- and sixth-grade action.
Andrew Vance led the Trojans with 14 points.
Parker Long scored eight and Braxton Duncan added seven as Rosspoint won 20-18 in a fourth-grade game.
Seth Johnson and Rayce Bryant led the Trojans with seven points each.

Kayden Adams led a balanced Cumberland attack with 16 points. Bo Eldridge and Hayden Grace added 12 and 11 points, respectively.
Mason Howard scored six points as Wallins won 35-17 in fifth- and sixth-grade action.
