Harlan County Knights place second in tournament at Whitley


The Harlan County Knights placed second over the weekend in a tournament in Whitley County. Team members include, from left: Jordan McCurdy, Noah Griffith, Kash Gooden, Ryder Middleton, Brody Madden and Carson Madden. Chris Brown is the team’s coach.

The Harlan County Knights, a grade school AAU  basketball team from Black Mountain Elementary School, placed second in the Colonel Classic over the weekend at Whitley County.
The Knight won three of five games, falling twice to a team from Oneida, Tenn., including the tournament finals.
Kash Gooden led the Knights in scoring in all five games, scoring 17 against PRIME in the first game, then 25 against the Hot Shots, 24 against White Oak and 21 against Whitley County before a 21-point effort against PRIME in the tournament finals.
