As both a hitter and pitcher, Harlan County sophomore Alex Creech has played a big role in the Black Bears’ 5-0 start this season. Creech was the winning pitcher Tuesday with 12 strikeouts as the Bears downed Thomas Walker, Va., 9-4. He scored two runs Thursday as HCHS edged Clay County 3-2, then had four hits Saturday in the Bears’ 9-3 win at East Ridge, earning the honors as the Kellie Wilson Law Office Player of the Week.
