Harlan County’s Abigail Gaw was a 7-5 winner Thursday in her match against South Laurel.

The Harlan County girls lost 8-1 and the boys fell 9-0 on Thursday against visiting North Laurel.
“It was a tough night for the boys and girls as we were outclassed. A lot of tough matchups we couldn’t overcome, but a lot of experience gained for our underclass players,” Harlan County coach Caleb Bailey said. “We had some good matches with Kaitlyn Daniels winning, and I thought she played tremendous in her match. Calan Neely played a close match with Zaid. Steven Fee and Elijah Moore played really well although the doubles score doesn’t reflect it. I thought Laura Ball played one of her best matches of the season tonight against a tough opponent, so I was really proud of her, too.
“North Laurel did everything right tonight and played the critical points the right way. Coach Bobby Smith is a great coach of the game of tennis and I have much respect for him and the Jaguars. Hats off to his squad.”
