Mountain Lions overcome early 5-0 deficit to defeat Harlan

Harlan’s Jake Brewer delivered a pitch in Friday’s game against Pineville. The visiting Lions rallied for an 8-5 victory.

A five-run second inning gave Harlan an early lead on Friday against visiting Pineville, but the Dragons were held scoreless the rest of the way as the Lions rallied for an 8-5 victory.
Isaac Brown pitched four shutout innings in relief to earn the win on the mound, giving up five hits while striking out one and walking one. Evan Biliter allowed five runs (two earned) on four hits in three innings, with one strikeout and nine walks.
Jared Moore led the Harlan offense with a double and single. Chris Rouse singled twice. Brody Owens added a double. Jake Brewer, Baylor Varner, Eli Freyer and Aiden Johnson contributed one single each.
Biliter led Pineville on offense with a double and single. Logunn Littles singled twice. Robbins singled once.
Freyer gave up four runs (two earned) on two hits in three innings on the mound, with three strikeouts and two walks. Brewer gave up two runs on no hits, with three walks and one strikeout in one inning. Owens allowed two runs on three hits in three innings, with six strikeouts and three walks.
The 8-7 Dragons return to action Monday at home against Harlan County. The 3-6 Lions play host to Barbourville on Tuesday.
