Tristan Cooper pitched six strong innings for his second win of the season as Harlan County edged Clay County 3-2 on Friday.

With six wins in seven decisions, Harlan County junior pitcher Tristan Cooper appears headed toward one of the best seasons on the mound in school history. Cooper came up big for the Bears last week as he pitched a three-hitter to help HCHS down Middlesboro 7-2 and clinch the 52nd District’s top seed in the process while earning a selection as the Kellie Wilson Law Office Player of the Week honors. Cooper is also one of the Bears’ top hitters, collecting hits in both wins over Middlesboro last week that helped HCHS finish with a 6-0 regular-season record against district competition.
