South Laurel standout Emily Cox recently signed with Lindsey Wilson. Cox will be the third generation of her family to play college basketball.

South Laurel senior Emily Cox is following a family basketball tradition as she recently signed with Lindsey Wilson after a standout senior season capped with her selection as a third-team all-state selection by the Louisville Courier Journal.
Cox enjoyed a big senior season as she led the team in scoring, rebounding and free throw shooting while earning honors as the 50th District player of the year. Cox will join her sister, Lindsay, who is a member of the soccer team at Lindsey Wilson. Both girls posted a 4.0 grade point average in high school.
Cox’s father, Todd, was an all-stater at Harlan High School who played on an NAIA national championship team at Georgetown College. Cox’s grandfather, Raymond, was a basketball standout at Hazel Green in Laurel County before going on to play at Cumberland College followed by a coaching career in Harlan County.
All three generations of the Cox family played on teams that made It to the state basketball tournament and now all three will play college basketball.
