Lady Bears close home schedule with victory over Leslie County

Harlan County’s Rylie Maggard stole second base during Thursday’s game against Leslie County. The Lady Bears won 7-2.

Harlan County closed its home schedule Thursday with a 7-2 win over Leslie County.
The Lady Bears scored three runs in each of the first two innings, more than enough for Madison Blair, who scattered three hits.
Halanah Shepherd put HCHS ahead with a two-run double in the first inning. Lesleigh Brown followed with an RBI single.
Rylie Maggard and Blair had hits in the second inning as the Lady Bears scored one run on a wild pitch and two on an error.
Blair added an RBI single in the third inning for a 7-0 lead. Leslie County scored single runs in the fourth and sixth innings.
The HCHS offense was led by three hits from Blair in the leadoff spot. Shepherd had a double. Maggard and Brown added singles.
Blair struck out six and walked one as she pitched a three-hitter and allowed no earned runs.
Harlan County (15-14) closes its regular-season schedule Friday at Whitley County before playing Middlesboro on Monday in the 52nd District Tournament at Bell County.
