Bears use 18-0 run to knock off Louisville opponent

SHELBYVILLE — One day after watching a win get away in an overtime loss to Louisville Eastern, the Harlan County Black Bears closed out a win over another Louisville opponent on Saturday in the 64-team KABC Titans Shootout.
Down by three after one quarter, the Bears went on an 18-0 run in the second quarter to take control on the way to a 78-62 win over Butler.
Trent Noah, who finished with 30 points, and Maddox Huff, who added 15, took over in the second quarter as they teamed for 19 of 21 points in the period as the Bears took a 37-23 lead at the break.
Noah scored 10 points in the third quarter and added two assists on baskets by Jaycee Carter as the lead grew to 53-37. Carter finished with 18 points.
With Butler pressing full court, Noah and Huff found teammates down the floor for layups in the fourth quarter as Carter, Reggie Cottrell and Caleb Johnson teamed for 23 points in the final period. Cottrell scored seven, followed by Johnson with six and Brody Napier with two.
