Bears roll past North in 13th Region showdown at KABC Shootout

SHELBYVILLE — In a matchup of two teams that will be ranked in the top four of next season’s 13th Region race, the Harlan County Black Bears put together their best defensive performance of the summer in posting a 73-55 victory over North Laurel on Saturday in the KABC Titans Shootout.
Trent Noah scored 29 points and Maddox Huff added 25 as the two star HCHS guards put on a shooting clinic in the first half after North, the defending 13th Region champs, got off to a fast start. Harlan County battled back to take a 25-23 lead by the end of the opening period with the help of six 3-pointers.
Huff scored 12 points in the second quarter and Noah added seven as the Bears extended their lead to 44-30 by halftime. Noah took over in the third period with 10 points as the lead grew to 63-40 with the hep of two baskets each from Jaycee Carter and Caleb Johnson.
Harlan County led by as many as 29 points, at 71-42, as Huff hit a pair of 3s early in the fourth quarter.
Johnson finished with 10 points and Carter scored eight, while Brody Napier chipped in with two points.
