BARBOURVILLE — Two streaks continued Sunday in the east division finals of the District 4 Tournament.
Hazard/Perry continued its domination of the 11-12 age level with a 7-0 win over a Harlan team that hasn’t won an area title since 2006.
Harlan advanced to the east division finals with wins over Pineville/Bell and Knox County but couldn’t muster any offense against Hazard’s Ross Logan, who gave up only two infield hits while striking out 16 and walking two.
Hazard took control with a five-run first inning against Harlan starter Cooper Thomas, who recorded two outs before Noah Carter, Jayden Fraley, Tyson Fugate and Tobie Stacey were able to string together four straight RBI hits.
Logan added an RBI hit in the third inning after Lucas Gayheart had singled. The final run scored after two straight Harlan errors.
Thomas gave up only three hits after the first inning and pitched a complete game with six strikeouts and two walks.
Thomas and Gabriel Helton had the only Harlan hits with one out in the fourth inning before Logan worked out of trouble with a fielder’s choice ground out and a strikeout.
Harlan will play Leslie County on Monday for second place in the east division tournament and a berth in the District 4 Tournament final four. Leslie County defeated Pineville/Bell 13-3 in the second game on Sunday.
