North Laurel won four games over three days to capture the District 4 Tournament (ages 8-10) title over the weekend at Huff Park in Harlan.
After a 6-1 win over Harlan on Friday. North Laurel downed Corbin 13-7 on Saturday in a rematch of the western division finals from last week. North then swept Hazard/Perry County 9-5 and 5-1 on Sunday. Hazard/Perry downed Corbin 6-1 on Friday in the winners bracket finals.
Harlan entered the tournament as the runner-up in the eastern division before falling to North Laurel on Friday.
Grant Caldwell and Deacon Lisenbee each had two singles to lead the Harlan All Stars. Seth Johnson had a double. Brylee Southerland walked in the fourth inning and scored the only Harlan run on Lakin Smith’s fielder’s’ choice ground ball.
Bryson Mills gave up four runs as he started the game pitched 2/3 of an inning. Johnson gave up two runs with four strikeouts in 4 1/3 innings.
North Laurel advances to state competition.
