Harlan bounced back from a season-opening loss with a 25-17, 29-27, 25-8 win Thursday over visiting Middlesboro in the district opener for both teams.
Annie Hoskins led the Lady Dragons with 13 kills and five service aces, along with two blocks and one assist. Kendyll Blanton added six aces, six digs, four assists and two kills. Taylor Hall had five digs, five assists and four aces. Mallory McNiel contributed seven assists, six digs and one ace. Ava Nunez had six digs, four kills and two aces. Tess Bryson added six digs and one ace. Kaylee Roark contributed three digs.

The Lady Dragons fell in all three matches Saturday at the Williamsburg All “A” Invitational Tournament, losing 25-12, 25-20 to Williamsburg, 25-12, 25-16 to Campbellsville and 21-25, 25-20, 27-25 to Buckhorn.
The 1-4 Lady Dragons return to action Tuesday at home against Bell County.

Harlan County downed visiting Perry Central 25-13, 19-25, 25-23, 25-21 on Thursday.
Kalista Dunn paced the 2-1 Lady Bears with 16 digs, 12 kills, two service aces and two assists, Ashton Evans added 30 digs, with three aces and nine kills. Savannah Hill had 15 assists, 12 digs and two kills. Destiny Cornett contributed 17 assists, four aces, four kills and two blocks. Kylee Hoiska added 15 digs, seven kills, three aces and two blocks. Rileigh Duff chipped in with seven digs, six kills and two assists. Lesleigh Brown added four digs and one assist.
Harlan County plays host to Barbourville on Tuesday.
