Brayden Casolari recently became the first Harlan County golfer to receive an invitation to compete in the Kentucky Golf Coaches Association’s All State Championship on Sept. 16-17 at the University of Kentucky.
Entry into this two-day event is by invitation only and consists of the state’s top 15 golf teams along with the state’s top 21 individuals not on one of the invited teams. Rankings are decided by player points accumulated during the season from top finishes in qualifying invitational tournaments statewide. Brayden completed eight of these qualifying events, never finishing outside of the top 12, including seven top 10 and four top five finishes.
“Brayden is a super talented kid. He’s only starting to scratch the surface of what there is to accomplish,” Harlan County coach Brendan Rutherford said. “Qualifying for this event is a major accomplishment, and I wish him the best of luck to represent the state of Kentucky in the upcoming week at Pebble Beach. I am very proud of him and it’s going to see other things he accomplishes in the coming years.”
This will be Casolari’s final high school event of the season as he will miss the remainder of the KHSAA postseason to participate in the Pure Insurance Championship at Pebble Beach in northern California all of next week. This event will be nationally televised on the Golf Channel.
