Facing the 13th Region’s top-ranked team, the Harlan County Lady Bears fell to 0-3 with a 66-49 loss Friday at home against Corbin.
Led by Darcie Anderson’s 18-point night, Corbin jumped out to a 23-10 lead after one quarter and stayed in control even though the Lady Bears fought back to within 10 points at halftime.
“Always good to get the jitters and excitement of the first game out of the way,” Corbin coach Isaac Wilson told the 13th Region Media Network. “Playing at Harlan County is always tough. Long travel is always a worry to anyone about starting off slow. We showed plenty of room to improve tonight, but I’m overall happy for us to begin the year with a win.”
Kallie Housley also scored in double figures for the Lady Redhounds, finishing with 14 points. Kylie Clem added 11 points, and Bailey Stewart finished with 10.
Harlan County’s Ella Karst led all scorers with 30 points.
The Lady Bears will play host to Whitley County on Tuesday.
