The Harlan County Black Bears didn’t spend any time feeling sorry for themselves one night after suffering their first loss of the season against Bowling Green.
The Bears bounced back in dominant fashion by rolling past Butler County 93-74 on Thursday in the consolation bracket of the King of the Bluegrass tournament at Louisville Fairdale.
Maddox Huff scored 30 points and Trent Noah added 28 to lead the 8-1 Bears. Jaycee Carter and Reggie Cottrell chipped in with 13 and 11 points, respectively.
Ty Price, a junior guard ranked by the Courier Journal as the state’s eighth best player, led the 5-3 Bears with 30 points. Lawson Rice scored 22.
Harlan County took control by outscoring Butler 25-7 in the second quarter as Noah scored 12 points.
Huff had nine points in the third quarter while Noah and Carter added six each as the Bears’ lead grew to 77-49.
Harlan County will play Chicago DeLa Salle on Friday at 9 p.m.
