Harlan County is facing competition this week in the King of the Bluegrass tournament at Louisville Fairdale that not many eastern Kentucky programs will see.
The latest challenge for the Bears was a matchup against Chicago De La Salle, a team that defeated Frederick Douglass, one of Kentucky’s top five teams in the preseason, a day earlier. The Bears led most of the way on the way to a 63-59 win that propelled them into the consolation bracket finals on Saturday against Louisville Male.
Senior guard Trent Noah scored 20 points and junior guard Maddox Huff added 19 to lead the 9-1 Bears, who have won two of three games in the tournament. Junior center Jaycee Carter reached double figures for the third time in there games with 12 points.
Richard Lindsey led the Meteors with 35 points.
