Middlesboro is playing its best basketball of the season at the perfect time as the Lady Jackets extended their win streak to three with a 56-33 victory Monday over visiting Barbourville.
Junior guard Keevi Betts led the 8-18 Lady Jackets with 17 points. Halaya Brown and Millie Roberts added 11 and 10 points, respectively.
Sarah Smith paced the 14-13 Lady Tigers with 15 points.
“I’m really proud of our game plan execution,” Middlesboro coach Sally Adams said. “We had three girls in double digits that game, but I’m also proud of how we played on the defensive end. We played with energy and focus, and that is what I asked of them.”
Middlesboro closes its regular season schedule Friday at Tri-Cities Christian in Blountville, Tenn.

The Middlesboro Lady Jackets rolled to a 58-23 win Tuesday over visiting Oneida Baptist.
Senior center Halaya Brown scored 13 points to lead the 6-18 Lady Jackets. Keevi Betts scored eight. Morgan Martin added seven. Trinity Partin tossed in five. Aieza Ahmad, Millie Roberts, Jenna Baker and Anna Myers scored four each. Tilly Hoskins chipped in with three. Trinity Derossett, Abby Jackson and Cheyenne Gilbert scored three each.
The Lady Jackets downed OBI 62-33 on Saturday as Betters poured in 23 to lead Middlesboro. Martin added 10 and was followed by Brown with nine. Baker, Roberts and Partin scored six each. Derossett added two.
