Harlan County middle-schoolers Tanner Daniels, Gracie Roberts and Kiera Roberts competed in the Indoor Middle School State Championship on Saturday. Daniels set a new state record in the 1,500-meter run. He also set a new record in the 3,000-meter run. As an eighth-grader, he has earned three state titles and broken three state records.
Daniels won the 1,500- and 3,000-meter run with times of 4:19.31 and 9:29.72, respectively.
In the 1,500-meter run, Gracie Roberts and Kiera Roberts finished ninth and 16th, respectively. In the 3,000-meter run, Gracie Roberts placed fifth overall with a time of 12:08.03. Kiera Roberts was seventh with a time of 12:29.33.
