Harlan sophomore Tanner Daniels (right) placed third Saturday in the Class A state meet on Saturday at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington. James Gurley (left), a senior from Louisville Collegiate, place first, while Bardstown Bethlehem’s Grant Greenwell, a junior, was second. Daniels was seventh in last year’s state meet and 12th as an eighth grader while winning the middle school state championship.

The Harlan County High School girls cross country team received the 2A state runner up trophy on Saturday. The Lady Bears finished with 102 points, placing second behind Lexington Catholic. Corbin placed third, followed by Rowan County and Bourbon County.
