Lady Dragons edge Bell as Burgan fans 17
The Harlan Lady Dragons improved to 4-2 in middle school softball action with a 9-8 win in eight innings on Monday over visiting Bell County.
Adelynn Burgan struck out 17 and walked as she pitched a seven-hitter to earn the win.
Addyson Patton led Harlan on offense with a triple and single. Burgan and Chrissy Saylor each had a double and single. Shaedyn Crow singled twice. Taylor Glenn, Daria Lee and Harmonee Mills added one single each.
Harlan opened the season with a 4-2 loss at East Bernstadt. Lee led the Lady Dragons with an inside-the-park homer and two singles. Glenn had two singles, while Saylor added one. Burgan struck out 16 and walked two.
Burgan pitched a three-hitter with 10 strikeouts and no walks in a 13-1 win over Barbourville. Saylor had an inside-the-park homer. Glenn and Burgan added two singles each. Crow had an RBI double. Lee drove in two runs.
Glenn pounded out an inside-the-park homer, triple and single in a 17-0 three-inning rout of Lynn Camp. Arianna Raleigh an inside-the-park homer. Burgan singled three times. Saylor doubled twice. Crow singled twice. Mills, Lacey Lemarr and Lee added one single each. Burgan struck out eight and walked one.
Harlan won 15-8 at Bell County as Patton led the way with a double and two singles. Mills and Burgan added two singles each. Glenn, Lee, Crow, Priscilla Stewart and Raleigh added one single each. Burgan struck out 11 and walked one as he pitched a four-hitter.
The Lady Dragons play host to Cumberland on Thursday.
