The Harlan County track team had an outstanding performance Tuesday at North Laurel for an all-comers meet. The girls won their division with 103.50 points, defeating Leslie County by 3.50 points. The boys placed second overall with 93.50 points. Corbin won the boys division with 125.33 points.
“I’m really proud of our kids. This was a highly competitive field of teams, and they did a great job tonight,” Harlan County track coach Ryan Vitatoe said. “I thought both groups competed hard.”
To lead the Lady Bears, Gracie Roberts won the 3,200-meter run. Paige Phillips won high jump.
In the 100-meter dash, Ella Karst finished 13th. She was immediately followed by Aliyah Deleon. Macy Jones placed 18th. Makenna Dillman was 22nd.
Karst was 10th in the 200-meter dash. Deleon finished 12th. Jones was 17th, while Jaylee Cochran placed 28th.
Lauren Lewis finished fifth in the 400-meter dash. Preslee Hensley placed 17th. She was immediately followed by Addi Gray.
In the 800-meter run, Peyton Lunsford placed fifth. Lewis was eighth. Preslee Hensley finished 12th. Suzy Mumford was 26th.
Gracie Roberts finished third in the 1,600-meter run. Kiera Roberts was fifth. Mumford placed 19th.
Lunsford was third in the 3,200-meter run. Kiera Roberts placed fifth.
Phillips placed third in the 100-meter hurdles. Heaven Hensley was seventh, while Ashton Evans was 13th.

In long jump, Maddi Middleton was 19th. Madison Daniels placed 20th. Hailie Hensley and Heaven Hensley were 21st and 26th, respectively.
Heaven Hensley was 10th in high jump. Middleton placed 17th.
Phillips placed eighth in triple jump. Middleton was 11th.
Daniels placed second in pole vault. Taylor Clem was seventh.
In discus, Lacey Robinson placed 10th. Whitney Noe was 18th, while Allison Hensley placed 23rd. Addison Day was 30th.
In shot put, Allison Hensley placed seventh. Addyson Caldwell and Kaitlynn Smith were 10th and 16th, respectively. Day was 22nd.
Deleon, Jones, Daniels and Karst finished third in the 4 x 100 meter-relay.
In the 4 x 200 meter-relay, Deleon, Jones, Karst and Gray were fourth.
In the 4 x 400 meter-relay, Lewis, Lunsford, Gray and Preslee Hensley finished fourth.

“This is a big win for our girls. There were several teams here who will be at the top of their respective regions. I thought they competed hard and there was measurable improvement in several areas,” Vitatoe said. “Our sprint relays are improving each meet and you can see this group is rounding into shape. It’s exciting to see what we’re capable of being by season’s end.”
Kaden Boggs led the Bears, finishing second in the 3,200-meter run. Dallas Sergent was second in the 300-meter hurdles. Landon McCreary placed second in pole vault.
In the 100-meter dash, Luke Kelly finished third. Jayce Brown was 26th. Jonah Mumford placed 38th, while Landon Cook was 42nd.
Kelly placed fourth in the 200-meter dash. Gibson Wilder and Cook were 42nd and 49th, respectively.
Ethan Simpson placed sixth in the 400-meter dash. Jacob Schwenke finished seventh. Bryan Howard was 14th.
In the 800-meter run, Caleb Schwenke was sixth. Gage Bailey finished ninth. Jonavan Rigney and Evan Simpson placed 18th and 20th, respectively.
Boggs placed third in the 1,600-meter run. Caleb Schwenke was 11th. Rigney finished 18th. Kaylob Stevens was 32nd.

Sergent placed third in the 110-meter hurdles. Brayden Howard was eighth.
Brayden Howard placed 10th in the 300-meter hurdles.
In long jump, Brayden Howard placed seventh. Bryan Howard was 10th, while Bradley Brock was 12th.
Brown was 14th in high jump.

Brown was third in pole vault. Brock placed eighth.
In discus, Alex Greene was 11th. Liam Garland placed 15th. Brayden Clay was 26th.
In shot put, Peyton Jackson placed fourth. Bradley Henson and Jacob Shoemaker were sixth and seventh, respectively. Garland was eighth.
In the 4 x 100 meter-relay, Kelly, Sergent, Ethan Simpson and Taelor Haywood finished eighth.
Kelly, Sergent, Bryan Howard and Ethan Simpson placed sixth in the 4 x 200 meter-relay.
Bailey, Bryan Howard, Ethan Simpson and Jacob Schwenke were fifth in the 4 x 400 meter-relay.
Boggs, Bailey, Jacob Schwenke and Caleb Schwenke finished fourth in the 4 x 800 meter-relay.
“The boys had a great performance tonight as well. Corbin is a fantastic program and we knew that coming in,” Vitatoe said. “I thought our guys competed hard. We have a few guys out that we need to get well, but this group keeps improving each meet.
“We had some guys who had big bounce back performances from Saturday. I’m really proud of them all, and I’m excited to see the end product. They’re a hard working group. Now the focus is to get sharp as we head into the championship part of our season.”
Harlan County’s next meet will be on Friday at home for the Coal Miners Memorial Invitational.
