The Harlan County girls suffered their first loss of the season on Friday at Bell as the Lady Cats rolled to an 8-1 victory. The Harlan County boys claimed a 3-1 victory.
“It was a tough loss today for the girls to take our first loss of the season. We didn’t play the best as we should have and it showed in the results. Bell County is a very good team and strong at the one spot as Winkler will be one of the top seeds in the region. They played the best they could have and there wasn’t much they messed up on today,” Harlan County coach Caleb Bailey said. “I was proud of Kaitlyn Daniels from fighting back 4-1 to take it into a tiebreaker to pull the win out in singles. We’re a young team so this is great learning experience for the team. The boys all played their best and pulled out the win. Elijah Moore and Josh Steward brought strong performances in singles. Calan Neely and Elijah Moore also played a great doubles match.”
Harlan County returns to action Tuesday at Knox Central.
