Harlan threw quite a scare into the 14th Region’s top team before falling 9-8 on Friday in Hazard.
Jordyn Smith limited the Lady Dogs to one run on two hits through four innings with three strikeouts and one walk. Mallory McNiel gave up eight runs (seven earned) on 10 hits in two innings with one strikeout and no walks.
Ella Lisenbee led the Harlan offense with two doubles and a single. Smith added two singles. Rhileigh Estes, Ella Farley, Amy Roman and Abbi Fields contributed one double each. Ava Nunez and Addison Jackson added one single each.
The 11-18 Lady Dragons close their regular season schedule Tuesday at home against Harlan County.
