The Harlan County Lady Bears closed their summer schedule Tuesday at Knott Central, falling 60-40 to the host Lady Patriots and 42-36 to Leslie County.
Seventh-grade Taylynn Napier led the Lady Bears against Knott with 13 points. Whitney Noe added eight points. Lacey Robinson contributed six points and eight rebounds. Kayleigh Templeton scored three. Jaycee Simpson, Vanessa Griffith, Shasta Brackett, Whitley Teague and Shawnee Peace scored two each.
Napier scored 13 points and Teague added 10 against Leslie. Simpson and Robinson added five points each. Noe contributed three points and 12 rebounds.
The Lady Bears played without standout freshman guard Kaylee Runions, who was out with an injury.
HCHS downed Leslie County 40-31 in junior varsity action. Napier again paced the Lady Bears with 18 points. Kenadee Sturgill scored eight. Griffith added six points and 14 rebounds. Templeton scored four. Aubrey Madden and Savanna Madden added two each.
Brackett had eight points and 11 rebounds in the Lady Bears’ 29-28 loss to Knott Central. Templeton and Griffith each scored seven. Sturgill, Napier and Khloe Carr added two each.
The HCHS varsity finished the summer at 5-5 while the junior varsity posted a 4-2 mark.
