Harlan County won twice on the opening day of play at the Titans/Rockets Shootout in Shelbyville, coasting past Mason, Ohio 60-37 in the first round and then edging Martha Layne Collins 61-59 in double overtime on a last-second shot by Reggie Cottrell.
Senior guard Maddox Huff poured in 33 points to lead the Bears to the opening-round win. Trent Cole and Jaycee Carter added 10 points each. Brennan Blevins scored three. Cottrell and Bryson Bryant added two points each.
Huff scored 31 and Brody Napier added 17 in the win over Collins. Cole and Cottrell chipped in with five points each. Carter tossed in three.
Harlan County, now 13-3 on the summer, will play Louisville Manual in the round of 16 on Saturday at 5 p.m. at Collins High School. The winner will play the winner of the Ashland-Trinity game at 8.

Harlan County’s summer schedule ended with a 67-48 loss to Manual on Saturday.
Maddox Huff led the Bears with 19 points. Trent Cole added nine points, followed by Reggie Cottrell with eight, Jaycee Carter with six, Brennan Blevins with five and Brody Napier with two.
Harlan County ended the summer with a record of 13-4.
