CORBIN — After a three-game win streak to advance to the District 4 final four (ages 11-12), the Tri-City All Stars’ run came to an end Monday with a 16-0 five-inning loss to Corbin.
Brantley McQueen had the only hit for Tri City with a single in the third inning.
Brycen Saylor, Tobey Lunsford, Balin Foutch and Robby Johnson all saw action on the mound for Tri City.
Corbin scored two runs in the first inning and six in the second. Lunsford shut out Corbin in the third and fourth innings before Corbin blew the game open with eight runs in the fifth inning.
Hazard/Perry won the District 4 title in the opening game with a 4-0 win over North Laurel and advances to the state tournament. North will play Corbin on Tuesday for second place and the final berth in state competition.
It was the best showing for a Tri City team in several years with a fourth-place finish.
“I’m just really proud of the run our boys made,” Tri City coach Stephen Creech said. “Tonight didn’t go as we hoped, Corbin was just flat out a better team than us. But, to make it to the final four of our district is a memory I hope all of these boys cherish for the rest of their lives.
