HC, Harlan fall in middle school football doubleheaders
Both Harlan County and Harlan suffered losses in road trips Saturday in middle school football as Harlan County was swept at McCreary Central and Harlan fell at Leslie County.
Harlan County lost 16-0 in the sixth-grade game and 30-0 in the eighth-grade game. No statistics were available for the Bears.
Leslie County won 32-8 in seventh- and eighth-grade action as Karson Crawford passed for three touchdowns to lead the Eagles. Crawford completed a 20-yard touchdown pass to Rylan Morgan and a 50-yard pass to Zack Thomas, both in the first quarter. He connected with Cam Lewis for a 15-yard TD pass in the second quarter. Thomas had a pair of two-point conversions and Aiden Smith added one.
Thomas returned an interception 75 yards for a touchdown in the third quarter. Brody Brumley ran in the two-point conversion.
The Eagles coasted to a 22-0 win in fifth- and sixth-grade action.
Hunter Stevens scored on a 49-yard run in the first quarter, and Gunnar Gay followed with a two-point conversion pass to Stevens. Stevens scored on a 53-yard in the second quarter for a 14-0 lead.
Gay completed a 25-yard touchdown pass to Charlie Asher, then teamed with Asher for the two-point conversion to close the scoring.
No statistics were available for Harlan.
Evarts wins two of three at Cowan
Evarts won two of three games Monday at Cowan.
The Lady Cats fell 28-24 in seventh- and eighth-grade action despite 11 points from Khloe Carr.
Sadie Clark scored seven as Evarts won 19-4 in the fifth- and sixth-grade game, then scored eight in a 12-0 fourth-grade victory.
