Harlan County’s Brayden Casolari placed third in a tournament on Monday in Pineville.

Bell County continued its team success with a victory Monday in a three-team match at the Wasiota Winds Golf Course, defeating Whitley County by five strokes with a 179.
Whitley’s R.J. Osborne was able to break a win streak by Bell County’s Andrew Caldwell in the individual competition with a two-under par 35, two strokes ahead of Caldwell. Harlan County seventh-grade Brayden Casolari had his best showing of the season with a 40 to finish third. Bell’s Hayden Clark was fourth with a 41. Harlan County sophomore Matt Lewis was fifth with a 44.
“Brayden just amazes me every time out. He does things that a 12-year-old shouldn’t be able to do. He was in control of all aspects of his game tonight. Once he figures out how to play the course he’s going to really put up some low scores,” Harlan County coach Greg Lewis said. “Matt struck the ball tonight as well as he has all season long. His normally reliable short game was a little off tonight. One bad hole really cost him. The changes we’ve been working are starting to become natural for him. When his ball striking and short game come together he’s going to start going really low.”
A Pine Mountain Golf Conference match is set for Tuesday in Pineville.
