Bell County’s Andrew Caldwell was the individual winner on Thursday in a Pine Mountain Golf Conference match.

Andrew Caldwell and the Bell County Bobcats swept the individual and team titles Thursday in a Pine Mountain Golf Conference match at the Wasioto Winds Golf Course in Pineville.
Caldwell, a senior, shot a one-over par 37 to edge Knox Central’s Alex Smith by one stroke and Middlesboro’s Tyler Harris by two strokes.
Bell County won the team competition with a 182, seven strokes ahead of Middlesboro, as Hayden Clark was next for the Bobcats with a 41, followed by William Miracle with a 51, Bub Treece with a 53 and Gunnar Sams with a 58.
“I thought the team played well. We had several kids who are starting to play better here at the end of the year, which is really encouraging heading into the regional tournament in the next few weeks,” Bell County coach Brad Sizemore said. “Hopefully, we can continue to work hard and give our self the best opportunity come region time.”
Nick Cox was second for Middlesboro with a 46 and was followed by Warren Vaught with a 48 and Garrison Warren with a 56.
Brayden Casolari led Harlan County with a 46, tying with Cox for fifth overall. Matt Lewis was next with a 51. Kobe Burkhart shot a 52 in his first match of the season.
“Tonight was a struggle for my guys all the way around. Some days you just don’t have it and it just happened that we all struggled a bit tonight,” Harlan County coach Greg Lewis said. “As bad as we hit it, Matt and Brayden both battled to earn top 10 finishes. Kobe Burkhart debuted with us tonight and I was very impressed with what I saw. He wasn’t overwhelmed by the situation and played really well. He just missed a top 10 finish tonight.”
Carson Murray led Harlan with a 52 and was followed by Aiden Johnson with a 56, Story Miller with a 58 and Kevin Thomas Lee with a 62.
The local teams return to action Thursday.
