Two of the elite players of the early years of girls basketball and two of the elite players of the last decade represented Harlan County on Saturday as the newest members of the 13th Region Basketball Hall of Fame. Former Cawood High School stars Kim Kelley and Lynette Lewis were selected, as were Jordan Brock, Harlan’s all-time leading scorer, and Blair Green, the all-time leading scorer at Harlan County,.
As the first star girls player in Harlan County history, Kelley was a key member of four straight 52nd District Tournament championship teams and led the Trojanettes to the county’s first 13th Region Tournament title in 1978. She was an all-district selection for five years, all-region four years and was a second-team all-state selection as a senior while scoring 1,412 points in her prep career. Kelley also played in the East-West All-Star game as a senior. She signed with UNC-Charlotte and played four seasons there.
A four-year standout at James A. Cawood High School, Lewis scored 1,142 points and played on four straight 52nd District championship teams, including the 1978 team that won the first 13th Region Tournament title in Harlan County history. She went on to a career at the University of Kentucky and was selected by teammates as a co-captain during her senior season. She played on the SEC championship team in 1982.
Brock was an all-state selection in 2016 and 2017 and scored 2,895 points while leading Harlan to regional titles in 2016 and 2017 and runner-up finishes in 2014 and 2015. She went on to play at Tennessee Tech.
Green was an all-stater at HCHS for three years and led the Lady Bears to the 13th Region title in 2018 and runner-up finishes in 2016 and 2017. She went on to play at the University of Kentucky.

Harlan County was well represented during the 13th Region Basketball Hall of Fame ceremony Saturday at The Corbin Arena. Former Cawood standouts Kim Kelley (left) and Lynette Lewis (right) and Harlan County’s Blair Green were among those inducted this year. Harlan’s Jordan Brock was also among those selected but was unable to attend the ceremony.
