“Great meet last night. We had a wonderful start to the meet with our girls 4×800,” Harlan track coach Trent McKenzie said.
“We also had an impressive showing at our field events last night,” McKenzie said. “We’ve got two guaranteed kids headed to Lexington with Asia finishing second in shot and Zoë finishing second in high jump.”
Tanner Daniels led the boys, winning the 800- and 1,600-meter run.
“Tanner and Harper both had great meets as well as they both qualified for the state meet,” McKenzie said.
Murtaza Hussain was 19th in the 100-meter dash.
Garrett Wilder finished 12th in the 400-meter dash.
Xavier Farley placed 12th in the 800-meter run and 14th in the 1,600-meter run.

In the 4 x 200-meter relay, Hussain, Gibson Wilder, Garrett Wilder and Cruz Galloway finished sixth.
Daniels, Saylor, Galloway and Gibson Wilder were fourth in the 4 x 400-meter relay.
In the 4 x 800-meter relay, Farley, Galloway, Gibson Wilder and Garrett Wilder placed fifth.
“We knew with only 16 kids going it would be tough to pull anything off as a complete team” McKenzie said. “But individually and with our relays, we could qualify a few more for state.
“We are a younger team this year but now the kids know what to expect for next season. We’re hoping for a good outcome at the state meet for the kids that made it.”
