
The Harlan County Lady Bears closed their summer schedule by splitting two varsity games Friday at Clay County, defeating Leslie County 49-40 before falling 50-41 to Clay County.
Sophomore guard Jaylee Cochran scored 13 points and freshman guard Reagan Clem added 10 against Leslie. Kylee Runions tossed in nine. Jaycee Simpson chipped in with six. Taylynn Napier added five. Lacey Robinson, Whitney Noe and Kenadee Sturgill scored two each.
Runions scored 17 to lead HCHS against Clay. Simpson and Robinson scored six each. Clem added five. Cochran tossed in three. Noe and Napier scored two each.
The HCHS junior varsity team closed its summer at 11-0 with a 58-32 rout of Leslie County and a 34-32 win over Clay County.
Kenadee Sturgill led the Lady Bears agains Leslie with 15 points. Vanessa Griffith and Taylynn Napier adddd 12 and 10 points, respectively. Shasta Brackett and Natalie Moore scored eight each. Kelsie Middleton added five.
Griffith scored 12 and Sturgill added 10 against Clay. Napier tossed in eight. Brackett and Middleton added two each.

Harlan County fell 45-31 to Perry Central and 57-43 to Knott Central in varsity action Tuesday at Leslie County.
Clem scored seven while Runions and Napier added six each against Perry. Robinson, Noe and Cochran chipped in with four each.
Clem, Brackett and Napier scored seven each against Knott. Cochran tossed in six. Noe scored five. Sturgill and Khloe Carr added four each. Griffith scored three.
Harlan County downed Perry Central 51-31 in junior varsity action as Brackett scored 14, Sturgill tossed in 11 and Natalie Moore added 10 for the Lady Bears. Napier scored eight. Griffith and Carr added four each.

Harlan County fell 65-44 to Knox Central and 67-52 to Perry Central in varsity scrimmages Monday at Knox Central.
Brackett scored 12 and Clem added 11 against Knox. Napier tossed in eight, followed by Robinson with six, Runions with five and Sturgill with two.
Clem poured in 20 against Perry Central. Cochran added 12. Noe scored eight. Robinson, Runions and Brackett added four each.
