The Harlan County Lady Bears continued to struggle against 14th Region competition, falling to 1-5 against the region with a 21-25, 25-17, 25-23, 25-22 loss Monday at home against Letcher Central.
Harlan County overcome a 5-0 deficit in the first set to pull ahead and win before falling in the second set. The Lady Bears had a lead late in the third set before Letcher closed with a 4-0 run. The fifth set was also close before Letcher made big plays down the stretch.
Kylee Hoiska and Kalista Dunn led the Lady Bears with 22 and 15 kills, respectively. Hoiska also had 14 digs with four blocks and one assist. Dunn added 10 digs, five aces, one block and one assist. Savannah Hill again led in assists with 37 while adding 15 digs, two aces and one kill. Ashlynn Williamson had 15 digs and two aces. Karli Shoupe had eight digs and one assist.
The 13-12 Lady Bears will play host to Harlan on Thursday and Midldesboro on Monday to close their district schedule. The final regular season game will be Oct. 16 at South Laurel.

Harlan fell to 6-20 on the season with a 3-0 loss Tuesday at Red Bird. It was the fifth straight loss for the Lady Dragos and 12th in the last 13 matches.
The Lady Dragons travels to Harlan County on Thursday and June Buchanan on Monday before playing host to Berea on Oct. 14 and Middlesboro on Oct. 15 to close the regular season.
