HCHS rolls past Bell in middle school softball
Harlan County coasted past visiting Bell County 23-8 in middle school softball action Thursday.
Lexi Boggs, Bella Ford, Zoey Reed and Maddy Barrett each had one hit for the Lady Bears. Boggs led HC with three RBI. Aniston Burton and Ford had two each.
Daniels, Burton and Boggs each pitched one inning.
Lady Bears sweep Middlesboro
Khloe Daniels pitched a two-hitter in the first game as Harlan County rolled to a 20-2 win at Middlesboro in middle school softball action. The Lady Bears won a 20-15 slugfest in the second game.
Daniels struck out six and walked two to win the opening game.
Aniston Burton led the Lady Bears on offense with a double and two singles and three runs scored. Lexi Boggs added three singles. Campbell Thompson had a double and single. Andrea Napier and Daniels added two singles each. Bella Ford, Kailia Phillips and Zoey Reed had one single each.
Phillips led HC in the nightcap with a double and two singles with three RBI and three runs scored. Ford contributed a triple and single. Riley Owens, Thompson and Boggs each singled twice. Burton had an inside-the-park homer. Ella Brock, Maddy Barrett, Daniels, Napier and Chloe Perkins added one single each.
Burton gave up one run on one hit with three strikeouts and six walks in 2 1/3 innings in the circle. Reed pitched 1 1/3 innings. Boggs recorded the final out.
Black Bears rally past Perry Central
Harlan County improved to 3-2 in middle school baseball action with a 5-3 win Monday at Perry Central.
Seth Johnson struck out six and allowed one hit over the final 2 1/3 innings as the Bears rallied for the win. Gabe Helton pitched 3 2/3 innings, giving up six hits and three runs.
Brylee Southerland and Maddox Helton each had two hits with Southerland driving in the final two runs to give HC the win. Helton and Cian Garland added one hit each.
Lady Bears open middle school season with win
Khloe Daniels drove in four runs with two doubles and a singles to lead Harlan County in a 10-4 win over Corbin in the season opener for the Lady Bears in middle school softball action.
Lexi Boggs added a triple and double and scored three runs. Zoey Reed had a double with two RBI. Anniston Burton and Bella Ford each added singles.
Daniels pitched a complete game, giving up four runs (two earned) on five hits with seven strikeouts and four walks.
Black Bears roll past Shelby Valley
Harlan County evened its record at 2-2 in middle school baseball action with a 7-0 win Thursday over Shelby Valley.
Carter Caldwell led the Bears on offense with a double and single. Cian Garland singled twice. Kaysn Combs added a double. Carson Sanders, Grant Caldwell, Gabriel Helton and Maddox Helton had one single each.
Caldwell pitched three innings. Garland pitched 2 2/3 innings. Helton recorded the final out.
Helton and Seth Johnson combined on a one-hitter in an 8-0 win over Middlesboro.
Harlan County fell 8-2 to Whitley County and 15-1 to Corbin.
