Two well executed bunts in the second inning produced two runs for the visiting Rockcastle County Rockets in a 3-1 win Monday at Harlan County.
Hunter Pingleton and Sawyer Yates opened the inning with hits. Jack Childress brought in the first run with a bunt hit when no one covered first base for the Bears. Clay Cash followed with a successful sacrifice for the second run.
The Rockets collected nine hits to give Harlan County’s Zayden Casolari his first loss in four decisions. Casolari struck out six and walked none while giving up two earned runs in a complete game effort.
Brayden Thacker earned the win as he allowed one unearned run on three hits in 5 1/3 innings, with nine strikeouts and four walks. Clay Cash recored the final four outs with two strikeouts for the save.
DaShaun Smith led the Bears with a double. Gunner Burkhart, Kayden Adams and Brayden Morris had singles.
Harlan County travels to Rye Cove, Va., on Tuesday and plays host to Rye Cove on Thursday.

The Harlan Green Dragons were limited to two hits Monday in a 10-0 loss at Morristown West, Tenn.
Baylor Varner and Brody Owens each had singles for the 4-3 Dragons.
Owens suffered the loss on the mound as he gave up eight runs on six hits with four strikeouts and five walks in three innings. Jake Brewer allowed two runs (one earned) on two hits with one walk in one inning.
The Dragons play at Cosby, Tenn., on Tuesday.
