
Two days apart and in two different states, Harlan County split a doubleheader this week against Rye Cove, Va. The Bears avenged a loss on Tuesday in Virginia with a 7-6 victory Thursday at home.
Brennan Blevins doubled home the go-ahead run in the sixth inning after singles by Kayden Adams and DaShaun Smith.
Aiden Lewis earned the win in four innings of relief as he gave up two runs (one earned) on four hits with two strikeouts and one walk. Logan Mills allowed four runs (two earned) on four hits with two strikeouts and three walks in three innings.
Jesse Gilbert led the HCHS offense with three hits in three at bats. Smith added a double and single. Blevins had a double. Gunner Burkhart, Zayden Casolari, Mills, Zayden Casolari, Adams and Brayden Morris had one single each.

Harlan County fell 6-2 on Tuesday at Rye Cove.
Blevins doubled and Smith singled for the only HCHS hits.
Carson Clark suffered the loss as he gave up six runs (three earned) on seven hits with one strikeout and three walks. Aiden Lewis pitched one hitless inning with one strikeout and no walks.
