Cherokee (Tenn.) scored the winning run on a wild pitch with two outs in the bottom of the eighth inning to edge visiting Harlan County 2-1 on Friday.
Alexis Adams gave up only three hits and one earned run with 14 strikeouts and three walks.
Aly Sherman accounted for the only HC run with a homer in the fifth inning to tie the game at 1-1, Jordyn Smith and Julionna Johnson each had two singles. Raegan Landa, Bella Miniard and Jaylin Robinson had one single each.
The 11-8 Lady Bears travel to Bell County on Tuesday.
