Bears win two of three in middle school action
Harlan County won two of three games in its final week of the regular season in middle school baseball.
Gabriel Helton and Carter Caldwell each had three hits with Helton recording two doubles and a single while Caldwell singled three times in a 7-4 win Thursday over visiting Perry Central. Brylee Southerland added a double and single. Bryson Millis and Maddox Helton added two singles each. Seth Johnson and Cian Garland had one single each.
Gabriel Helton pitched four innings with six strikeouts and one walk. Johnson struck out three and walked none in two innings.
Garland led the Bears to a 7-2 win Tuesday over Jackson County with two singles. Grant Caldwell, Carter Caldwell, Lakin Smith, Gabriel Helton and Carson Sanders added one single each.
Carter Caldwell struck out eight and walked on in four innings on the mound. Southerland struck out four and walked three in two innings.
The Bears fell 12-1 at home against Corbin. Gabriel Helton had the only HC hit. Helton and Johnson shared mound duty.

Carter Caldwell struck out three and walked three in three innings. Garland struck out one in one inning.
Harlan County (15-5) will play in the Southeastern Middle School Conference Tournament on Saturday in Corbin, taking on Cumberland or Bell County in the semifinals.
