Sophomore Carson Clark pitched the best game of his high school career, but it wasn’t quite enough as the Black Bears fell 6-3 on Monday at Corbin.
Clark gave up only two hits, both singles by Clay Botner, but could not overcome eight walks and three errors that led to four unearned runs. Clark struck out five over six innings. Logan Mills, a seventh grader, pitched one shutout inning.
Brayden Morris led the HC offense with three singles and three RBI in four at bats. DaShaun Smith had a double. Gunner Burkhart, Zayden Casolari and Kayden Adams added one single each.
Malachi Zachery earned the win as he allowed three runs on six hits with two strikeouts and one walk in five innings. Botner gave up one hit and one walk with two strikeouts in two innings for the save.
