After winning all eight of their regular season games by an average of almost 26 points, the Black Mountain Tigerettes may have forgotten what it was like to play in a close game.
The James A. Cawood Trojanettes provided a scary reminder Friday in the semifinals of the fifth- and sixth-grade county tournament at the S.H. Rowland Gymnasium, pushing Black Mountain to the buzzer before falling 22-21. JACES had a couple of chances late to win the game but was unable to convert.
Rheagan Halcomb scored 10 points to pace the 9-0 Tigerettes.
Abby Elliott poured in 15 for the Trojanettes.
Black Mountain will play Rosspoint on Saturday at 1:15 in the county championship game at Harlan County High School. Rosspoint advanced with a 27-10 win over Wallins in last night’s second semifinal game. Shasta Brackett led the Lady Cats with nine points.
Reagan Landa and Kendall Brock each scored four to pace Wallins.
