Lady Cougars earn first win with rout of JBS

Kaylee Banks, pictured in action earlier this season, scored 19 points and grabbed 11 rebounds in Letcher Central’s 80-16 win Tuesday at June Buchanan.

 

 

 

After two straight cancellations due to covid, the Letcher Central Lady Cougars earned their long-awaited first victory of the 2021 season with an 80-16 rout on Tuesday at June Buchanan.
Junior guard Kaylee Banks scored 19 points and freshman guard Jaylin Whitt added 12 as Letcher Central improved to 1-1.
The Lady Cougars took control of the game early, racing to a 23-2 lead after one period.
Defense was strong all night for Letcher as JBS was limited to 13 percent shooting (six of 45). Letcher also owned a 56-18 advantage on the boards, led by Banks and Bailey Kincer with 11 each.
Riley Likens scored seven to lead the 0-3 Lady Crusaders, who return to action Thursday at Cordia.
Letcher Central will play host to Cordia on Wednesday.
