James A. Cawood's Landon Brock was defended by Rosspoint's Brayden Morris in county basketball action earlier this season. Rosspoint and JACES tied for the top seed in the county after wins Tuesday.

James A. Cawood, Green Hills, Cawood and Evarts earned impressive wins in the opening night of county fifth- and sixth-grade basketball action Monday at James A. Cawood Elementary School.
Landon Brock scored 23 points and Colton Delaney added nine as JACES defeated Rosspoint 34-20.
Gunnar Johnson led Rosspoint with 14 points.
Ethan Huff poured in 20 points as Green Hills opened with a 42-16 victory over Wallins.
Tanner Daniels led the Purple Devils with eight points.
Brady Smith and Ben Cochran each scored 12 points as Cawood rolled past Black Mountain 48-3.
Evarts defeated Cumberland 41-30 as Kobe Noe scored 16, Brenton Bargo added 15 and Brady Freeman contributed 10 for the Wildcats.

Hayden Grace led the Redskins with 14 points.
The seventh- and eighth-grade season opens Tuesday at James A. Cawood Elementary School.
