Perry Central rallies for win over Lady Bears

Freshman guard Ella Karst, pictured in action earlier this season, scored 12 points in the Lady Bears’ one-point loss at Clay County on Thursday.

Up 25-20 late in the first half, the visiting Harlan County Lady Bears were outscored 12-3 to close the half then 20-8 in the third quarter on the way to a 72-59 loss Monday at Perry Central.
Perry Central (3-5) placed four in double figures, led by sophomore guard Emalee Neace with 22 points. Senior forward Katie Dunnigan scored 13. Senior forwards Chelsey Napier and Rani McIntyre added 10 each.
Freshman guard Ella Karst led the 3-5 Lady Bears with 19 points. Senior guard Jacey Lewis scored 16. Senior forward Kassy Owens added 10.
Harlan County returns to action Friday at home against Middlesboro in a girls/boys district doubleheader.

Taytum Griffin scored 17 points and Hailey Austin added 14 as Harlan County won 53-47 in junior varsity action.
Taylor Lunsford contributed 11 points for the 3-2 Lady Bears. Paige Phillips tossed in six, followed by Jenna Wilson and Leah Davis with two each and Haley Middleton with one.
Kara Minks scored 17 and Alyssa Beverly added 10 to lead the Lady Commodores.
