Isaiah Adams, pictured in action earlier this season, scored 10 points in Letcher Central’s win Thursday over Leslie County.

Two nights after falling four points short in an upset bid at Knott Central, Letcher Central cooled off one of the 14th Region’s hottest teams with a 65-51 victory over visiting Leslie County on Thursday.
“It was another solid effort on both ends for our guys. I’m happy we were able to hit our spots for a balanced attack on the offensive end. Also, I’m more satisfied with our ability to execute versus the press down the stretch,” Letcher Central coach Winston Lee said. “We still have to work harder on the glass and there are still some areas to work on defensively. We have a big test coming up next week. It should be a good a gauge.”
Bodie Bentley, a junior guard, led the 6-3 Cougars with 18 points. Joby Johnson scored 16. Isaiah Adams added 10.
Senior center Jason Baker scored 13 to lead the 4-4 Eagles. Trenton Day and Kobe Bowling, both senior guards, added 12 points each.
Letcher Central will play host to Magoffin County on Saturday. Leslie Count is at home against Hazard on Saturday.
