Dragons roll past Barbourville; Bell edges Lady Skins

Cumberland’s Aviya Halcomb connected on a pitch in recent middle school softball action. The Lady Skins fell 11-10 to Bell County on Tuesday.

Harlan evened its record at 1-1 in middle school baseball action with a 15-4 rout of visiting Barbourville on Tuesday.
Luke Luttrell drove in four runs on a double and two singles to lead the Harlan offense. Chris Rouse added three RBI with a triple and single. Eli Freyer drove in one run with a single. Landon Myers, Matthew Nunez and Brody Owens also had singles.
Owens pitched three innings and struck out seven to earn the win. Luttrell fanned two in one inning on the mound.
Harlan will play host to Bell County on Thursday.

Cumberland fell 9-3 at Fleming-Neon in middle school baseball action Monday.
Peyton Jackson had a double in the first inning and Josh Duckworth singled in the fifth inning for the Cumberland hits.
Braxton Bowen walked and scored a run on Brayden Casolari’s ground out. James Ryan Howard walked and scored on a stolen base. Aiden Craig was hit by a pitch and scored on an RBI by Casolari.
Jackson, Brayden Casolari, Duckworth, Zayden Casolari and Craig shared mound duty for the Redskins.
Cumberland lost 9-8 to Fleming-Neon in its season opener on March 15.
Kayden Adams and Christian Teaster had doubles for the Redskins. Aiden Craig added a single.
Casolari gave up seven hits and two walks while striking out two.

Cumberland raced to a 10-0 lead in softball action Monday at Bell County, but the Lady Cats rallied to win 11-10
Bethany Robbins pitched a complete game for the Lady Skins with six strikeouts.
Bell scored two runs in the first, four in the second, two in the third and won the game with three runs in the fourth.
Cumberland returns to action Thursday at Barbourville.
