HCHS tennis teams earn first wins at Barbourville

Lindsay Hall and Abigail Gaw were winners on Monday in a doubles match against Barbourville at Union College. Both HCHS teams claimed their first victories of the season.

Harlan County won the first two matches of the Caleb Bailey era as the Bears and Lady Bears swept past Barbourville on Monday at Union College. The HCHS girls won 6-1 and the boys claimed a 4-3 victory.
“After playing against two of the best teams in the region in a 10-day timespan, it’s nice to come out on top,” said Bailey, the first-year coach. “Our teams have had a great week of practice and today it showed. I couldn’t be more proud of the determination this team has. They hate to lose. We move forward to play the Harlan Green Dragons next week at Harlan.”
