Former Lynch coach visits Bulldog Room

Mac Quarles (right) made a stop at the Bulldog Room in Lynch earlier this week and toured the facility with Mike O’Bradovich, a former Lynch athlete who helped collect the memorabilia focusing on Lynch High School sports history. Quarles is pictured with Lynch resident Roger Wilhoit. Quarles was head coach of the Bulldogs in 1977 and 1978 and was an assistant under John Morgan on the last Lynch football team in the fall of 1979. Lynch closed at the end of the 1981 school year. WIlhoit and Quarles played against each other in the 1968 Class A state finals at Stoll Field in Lexington when the Bulldogs defeated Frankfort 14-6 for their fourth and final state championship. “We did enjoy recollecting and talking about old memories and sharing some pictures and football stories,” said Without, who added that Quarles was impressed with the Bulldog Room.
