Evarts won three games on Saturday, including a 41-38 victory over Wallins in the finals, to capture the championship of the fifth- and sixth-grade Black Bears Tipoff Tournament at Harlan County High School.

Evarts established itself as the early favorite in this season’s fifth- and sixth-grade county league with a hard-fought 41-38 win over Wallins on Saturday at Harlan County High School in the Black Bears Tipoff Tournament.
The Wildcats featured a strong 1-2 combination in the tournament as center Kobe Sanders scored 14 points and guard Brenton Bargo added 14 in the championship game.
Tanner Daniels poured in 20 points to lead Wallins.
Bargo scored 13 and Sanders tossed in 10 as Evarts overpowered Cawood 41-6 in the semifinals.
Wallins outlasted James A. Cawood 32-28 in the other semifinal as Daniels scored 16 and Ryan Day added 10 for the Devils.
Easton Engle led the Trojans with 11 points.
Bargo scored 13 and Sanders added 10 as Evarts downed Rosspoint 36-24 in a first-round game.
Hayston Hensley paced the Wildcats with 13 points.
Masyn Stewart scored 10 points as Cawood earned a 26-19 win over Green Hills in a first-round game.
Brayden Lucas-Huff led Green Hills with 16 points.
Tyhler Coots and Engle each scored 13 and Logan Smith added 12 as James A. Cawood rolled past Cumberland 46-25.
Hayden Grace paced Cumberland with 11 points.
Daniels, Day and Eli Noe each scored 12 points as Wallins defeated Black Mountain 36-25 in the opening game of the tournament.
Noah Whitaker led Black Mountain with 18 points.
