Lady Bears hold off Jenkins’ upset bid

Jenkins’ Lindsey Rose picked up a loose ball in Saturday’s game against Harlan County as guard Kylie Jones went to the floor.

With 13 victories going into Saturday’s game, the Harlan County Lady Bears have found a way to win a handful of games most probably didn’t expect when the season began, including their win on Thursday against Letcher Central.
The Lady Bears almost gave one back Saturday they were expected to win, trailing visiting Jenkins by four at halftime and leading by only one after three quarters before pulling away for a 51-43 victory.
Junior forward Jaylin Smith led the Lady Bears with 19 points. Junior guard Hailey Austin added 16.
Emma Stewart scored 13 and Lindsey Rose added 12 for the 7-17 Lady Cavaliers.

Led by 15 points from Emma Stewart, Jenkins won 37-33 in junior varsity action.
Cheyenne Rhymer led the 2-8 Lady Bears with 10 points. Whitley Teague scored nine. Savannah Hill chipped in with five. Maddi Middleton added three. Whitney Noe, Hailee Hensley and Addison Gray scored two each.
